Sales of children's lockdown journal boom

  • the Self-published book hits number 20 in Amazon's Psychology bestsellers chart in just two weeks

  • Lockdown journal allows kids to understand COVID-19 and record their thoughts and emotions

  • Mum of two shocked as book sells up to 30 physical copies per day

A new book by a Staffordshire Mum and parenting advisor, "My Thinky Thoughts Journal", has sold hundreds of copies in just two weeks via Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing programme.

Author Fi Star-Stone first shot to prominence in 2010 when she gave the UK its first Twitter birth, by sharing her live experiences of son Oscar's delivery on the social networking platform.

Since then two other books, ‘The Baby Bedtime Book - Say Goodnight to Sleepless Nights’ and 'The Wide-Awake Kids Club' have helped parents give their little ones the gift of happy sleep worldwide.

"When I had the idea to publish a journal that would explain COVID-19 to children and calm them, by allowing them to record their feelings, I knew I had to write and publish it quickly," said Star-Stone.

"Print on demand is the quickest way to go, but you don't get the PR help you would get from a publishing house," she continued.

"That's why I was surprised and delighted when it did so well. I just wanted to write something that would help families and sell it as cheaply as possible to make it accessible to everyone,” concluded Star-Stone.

Not only has the book sold well, it has received only five-star reviews on Amazon.

“As a parent, I love that it allows children to deal with the sad feelings and the positive ones, it helps to promote journaling, a great tool for mental health, as well as fun pages like colouring and pictures,” explained Kara Spencer, in a review on Amazon.

“My daughter said, ‘I love that it has places for me to write down what I am thinking... I love the colouring too. It makes me feel quite grown up!’” continued Spencer.

“I also think this will be something to look back at for years to come.”

As a mum of two, born less than a year apart, Star-Stone knows that parenting isn’t always easy. Her gentle techniques and approachable manner are popular with families and celebrities worldwide and many parents refer to her as ‘the nice expert’. She provides free childcare advice via her website and social media and has helped 1000s of families without charge.

Star-Stone now hopes her journal will help kids feel less anxious and stressed during the COVID-19 lockdown, by writing down their thoughts and feelings.

The new book is available from Amazon in print-only format for just £3.99. https://www.amazon.co.uk/My-Thinky-Thoughts-Journal-lockdown/dp/B086PPHS1H
